Ved: Recure Combat and Controls

Block, dodge, dash, and make every socket earn its keep.

Combat and Controls

Ved: Recure sells flash. The Steam page talks about block, dodge, and strike; the trailers throw orange and blue slashes across grass fields and canyons. Under that, the combat system is a short list of verbs that double as buff sockets. If you treat fights like a character-action game and drafts like a deckbuilder, the two halves click. If you mash strike and then wonder why Land of Snow never froze anyone, the sockets were empty.

This page is the mechanical half of the getting started guide. Pair it with the buff-chain primer before you fight Amplifier a second time.

The verbs

SummerClip has not published a public keyboard overlay, and we will not invent one. Bind the following in the in-game settings (keyboard or controller — Steam lists full controller support, Xbox and DualShock):

  • Strike / normal attack. Feeds cards such as Dance! Dance! Dance! (each normal hit can explode) and Land of Snow (each basic hit applies a Frost stack).
  • Dash. Has its own socket row: Dash ATK. Demo chains place skull, lightning, and fist stickers here. A dash that does not spend a Dash ATK buff is only a reposition.
  • Special. Special ATK row. Iceberg, snowflake, and arrow stickers showed up here in the official chain screenshot.
  • Combo Finisher. A dedicated row, not just the end of a mash string. Fire and explosion stickers live here for a reason.
  • Defence / block. Defence row. This is how you stay in Amplifier’s face without eating every swing. The store copy literally lists block beside dodge.
  • Hurt. Hurt row, retuned in the June demo alongside Negate. These fire when you take a hit or when a Hurt condition the card describes is met. Empty Hurt sockets waste the most interesting half of the chain.
  • Extra ATK. Overflow row for cards that do not belong on Dash or Special.

Negate is the sister concept to Hurt. June 2026 news said trigger conditions for Negate / Hurt buff chains were updated. If a Negate card stopped firing after you copied a May chain, the patch — not the card text — is the first suspect. Confirm on patch notes.

Camera, HUD, and readability

The default camera is a follow cam. Players hit walls; SummerClip answered with:

  • Improved camera near walls (28 April 2026), with more work promised.
  • Fixed camera mode and extra camera settings (June Next Fest demo).
  • A safeguard against camera lockups (8 June 2026).
  • Camera shake that can be set to 0.
  • V-Sync option (28 April 2026).

The HUD you should actually look at:

  • HP bar in the lower left. Demo shots show Chillo at 2000/2000 and Fei at 2117/2117 with a +276 bonus. The bonus is gear and buff residue, not a second health pool.
  • Stage n/8 in the upper right — rooms remaining in the current crawl.
  • Compass / mini-map on canyon maps.
  • Boss nameplate. Amplifier uses a red bar with blue charge pips underneath.
  • Damage numbers (a 47 floating on Fei’s canyon slash) — useful for confirming a card proc, not for theory-crafting a spreadsheet.

If the follow cam hides Amplifier’s arm, switch to fixed camera before you blame the boss.

Spacing by character (demo only)

Chillo wants to be close. The Amplifier screenshot is a wide orange arc at melee range on a sunny field. Learn the mecha’s step-in, block or dodge, then spend a Combo Finisher.

Plumy wants lanes. She is a gun fighter on the character sheet. Dash ATK cards that create space are worth more on her than on Chillo. Keep Extra ATK for gun-friendly explosions rather than freeze melee.

Fei (green hair, white jacket in the canyon shot) is a melee rusher with large blue slashes. She is locked until you clear Chapter 1; when you have her, treat Dash ATK as part of the approach, not a panic button. More on the Fei unlock page.

Kiki, Daria, Frostelle, and Zane are named and voiced for the full roster. We do not have demo confirmation of their verbs. Do not copy a fake “Zane parry guide.” Wait for the character roster to grow after 21 Sep 2026.

Boss-sized tells

Amplifier occupies a grassy lot with trees and distant buildings. The nameplate and the size difference tell you this is a boss room, not a trash pull. Walk in with Defence filled. If you drafted only Fire offense, you can still win — the boss guide is about pattern reading, not a required element check.

The blue-and-yellow mecha with CD launchers (Steam cutscene still) is another large body. Treat hanging CDs as projectiles until you have seen the pattern twice. Boss Rush then repeats these bodies with Rockwheel and Whirlord added. Rush is where you practice without spending Chapter 1 lives; the demo walkthrough explains Restart.

Difficulty and honesty

The June demo added difficulty options after camera and difficulty feedback. If you are here because Chapter 1 felt like a brick, lower difficulty, fill Defence, and stop stacking three mutually exclusive elements. Ved: Recure is single-player. There is no squad to carry you and no gacha banner to reroll a character. The skill floor is the point.

When the verbs feel comfortable, go back to buff chains and force every socket to answer a question: what happens when I dash, what happens when I get hit, what happens when I finish a combo. That is combat mastery in this game, not a bigger Attack stat on Plumy’s property panel.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Where is the official keybind list?

In the game's settings. This wiki will not invent keyboard rows. Bind strike, dash, special, and block, then map those verbs to sockets in the buff-chain primer.

Why did SummerClip add a fixed camera?

Players clipped into walls with the follow cam. April and June demo patches added wall behavior, fixed camera, shake at 0, and a lockup safeguard.

Does blocking matter if I can dodge everything?

Yes. Defence is a socket row, and Hurt/Negate chains need you to stay in a pattern. Pure dodge runs leave those rows dead. See the build planner.
